    What a joke that doctors who talk about how substance abuse is bad for mental health turn around and prescribe uppers and other damaging and dehumanizing substances to their patients like they are doing them a favor.

    I tend to think that the reason for depression is a true personal discovery that your adolescent/adult life does not begin at 12, 16, 18 or 21. It began at conception. And the depressed person always held the right cards to his/her own future but either didn't know how to play them right, didn't have the courage to play them right, or became too dependent on the wrong people for approval or sense of worthiness. These first five years are critical and life goes far beyond them.
