  • Living (And Sleeping) With Sleep Apnea

    Sleep apnea is a tricky condition that many people have, but not many people know they do.  It occurs during your regular nighttime sleep, and it strikes by causing a total cessation of breathing.  You can stop breathing up to five times an hour and for up to 10 seconds each time and it would still be considered normal.  Only when the cessation of breathing is more than 10 seconds long, or occurs more frequently than five times an hour could that be diagnosed as sleep apnea.  Most people who have sleep apnea don’t even realize it until they go to a sleep center for a diagnosis after their spouse or partner expresses worry.  It’s possible to live your whole life not even realizing it, just thinking that those feelings of drowsiness and extreme fatigue all day long every day is totally normal.
